Mark began his business career working for his father’s Mobil/Chevron
distributorship in Albuquerque. That job led him to future opportunities with
some of the nations top companies. He worked as the production manager
for Bueno Foods, the nation’s second largest producer of frozen Mexican food
where he supervised 200+ employees producing 30+ products. He spent 5
years with Caterpillar setting up legal leasing and sales into northern Mexico
and 10 years with AIG, which ultimately brought his family to Utah. After
spending several years foreclosing on homes, and seeing lives torn apart in
the process, Mark made the switch to real estate with a commitment to use
his background and expertise to teach his clients about finance and credit
and help them make better informed decisions. He began his career with
RE/MAX and eventually purchased his own RE/MAX franchise in Layton. After
selling his brokerage in 2016, Mark founded the Shepherd Real Estate
Group, an independent brokerage to allow him to better serve his clients and
tailor his services to meet their needs.

Mark served as the President of the Northern Wasatch Association of
REALTORS in 2014 and has served as a national director for the Residential
Real Estate Council. He holds the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)
designation, the most respected designation a Realtor can hold. It is
achieved by only 3% of the agents nationwide, and he was the 2016 Realtor
of the Year.

Mark served 8 years on the Clearfield Planning Commission before being
elected to the City Council. After 6 years on the Council, Mark was elected as
Clearfield City’s Mayor in 2013 and is now in his second term in that

Mark has been married to his wife Tammie for the past 29 years. They are
the parents of seven children and two grand daughters. In his “spare” time,
Mark will likely be found at a Real Salt Lake soccer game, searching for his
ball at one of the local golf courses or at the gun range practicing his aim.
Whichever activity that day might bring, you will almost always find one of
his children by his side.
